The need for trusted financial planning has never been greater. Established in 2004, Oliver Asset Management provides Wealth Management services to affluent clients across Scotland and the UK.
Our Wealth Management service is comprehensive. It is designed to cover all aspects of financial planning including tax and legal advice, and is built on long term client relationships.
Who we are
Roland Oliver – Practice Principal
Roland has over 30 years of financial planning experience. A firm believer in the capital power of the market, he has used a passive approach to investment strategies with his clients for many years.
He has worked with a number of major financial institutions over the years before setting up Oliver Asset Management in 2004.
He is married with one daughter, is a keen skier, both water and snow.
Dr Claire Armstrong – Client Relationship Manager
Claire graduated in 1997 with a Doctorate in Psychology from St Andrews.
She is responsible for all aspects of Client Relationships at Oliver Asset Management and brings high levels of organisation and discipline to our processes and procedures.
Recently a mum, Claire has a young daughter and is a keen hill walker and gardener.
Malcolm Stewart – Client Project Manager
Our most recent recruit is an Economics graduate from St Andrews.
His ability in mathematics has been put to good use in his management of the six investment portfolios we offer, and he is responsible for ongoing asset allocation.
He monitors our investment strategies as well as overseeing client project work.
Malcolm is also a keen hill walker and enjoys water skiing and sailing.

Investment Consulting
Investment consulting (IC) is the astute management of investments over time to help achieve financial goals.
It requires advisors to deeply understand their clients’ most important challenges and then to design an investment plan that takes their clients’ time horizons and tolerance for risk into account and that describes an approach that will maximise clients’ probability of achieving their goals.
It also requires advisors to monitor both their clients’ portfolios and their financial lives over time so that they can make adjustments to the investment plan as needed.

Advanced Planning
Advanced planning (AP) goes beyond investments to look at all the other aspects that are important to your financial life. We break it down into four parts: wealth enhancement, wealth transfer, wealth protection and charitable giving. In our experience, very few financial advisors offer these services.
Relationship Management
Relationship management (RM) is the final element.
True wealth managers are focused on building relationships within three groups.
The first and most obvious group is their clients. To address their clients’ needs effectively, they must foster solid, trusted relationships with them.
Second, wealth managers must manage a network of financial professionals—experts they can call in to address specific client needs. Finally, wealth managers must be able to work effectively with their clients’ other professional advisors, such as their solicitors and accountants.
